If you know the Marenco sofa, you will recognise it at once: the Arflex Marenco armchair,
designed by Mario Marenco in 1970, brings the same full, soft cushions to a single seat.
Here at Mariani, official Arflex retailers in Milan and Arluno, we help you choose the right version.

The armchair: the Marenco for one
Arflex introduces it with a line that applies to the whole system: its unique design and wide modularity
still make the Marenco a classic of contemporary furniture. The armchair is the most versatile piece of the
family: on its own by a window, in a pair facing the sofa, or alongside other models, as in the photos above.
There are three versions. The armchair with two armrests is the most enveloping, closed in
by its side cushions. The armless armchairs, in the 76 and 104 variants, have a more
essential look and can be placed side by side; there is also a capsule collection in patterned fabric.
Finally, for terraces and verandas there is the Marenco Outdoor armchair, with fabrics
suited to outdoor use such as Capri, Linosa, Panama and Panarea: we quote it on request.

The designer
Architect, researcher, industrial designer.
The profile Arflex dedicates to Mario Marenco is above all that of an architect: a degree from Naples in 1957, five research awards in Stockholm and Chicago up to 1960, then the DEWG studio in Rome, focused on community buildings.
From 1970 he worked as a designer for Arflex, Artemide, Bernini and B&B; in the 1980s he designed display stands for FIAT, Lancia and Alfa Romeo and watches for FIAT and Ferrari. In 1990 he founded Studio Purificazione 35 in Rome, working on architecture and new furniture patents. For the story of the Marenco system, read our page on the Marenco sofa.
