Cini Boeri designed it in 1973 and it has been one of the most likeable small armchairs in Italian design ever since. In 1973 Cini Boeri designed the Botolo around an idea that, in Arflex's words, gave life to a new style: choosing the height of the legs. With high legs it is a dining chair; with low legs it embodies the "living at a low level" that was the frontier of modern living at the time.
Half a century later the principle still works: the same shape fits a living room, a dining table or a desk, and changes character with the upholstery, from fabric to fur.
Cini Boeri was born in Milan in 1924 and graduated in architecture from the Politecnico in 1951. After years of collaboration with Marco Zanuso, she opened her own studio in 1963, working across architecture and design.
For Arflex she created some of the freest seating in the catalogue, from the Strips to the Bobo. With the Botolo, in 1973, she proposed a simple idea: the same small armchair, with legs of different heights, for "living at a low level" in the living room or for the dining room.

The price of the Botolo depends on the version, low or high, and on the upholstery, from fabric to fur. The Arflex catalogue also lists a Botolo with chromed legs: ask us about availability and a quote for that one. As official Arflex retailers we work on the current price list and send you a quote for your configuration.
