Arflex Frame Sofa in Milan — Official Retailer

A comfortable, clean line, and a frame that can be dressed in hand-woven hide.

Carlo Colombo for Arflex, 2009 · By Mariani Design

The Arflex Frame is a sofa that needs no special effects: a comfortable line, clean proportions and a frame that, if you like, takes centre stage with hand-woven hide. Carlo Colombo designed it in 2009. Here at Mariani, official Arflex retailers in Milan and Arluno, we help you compose it to fit your home.

The design: comfort and a frame worth showing

Arflex describes the Frame as a seat system with a comfortable line, whose structure can be enriched by the manual weave of the hide to give the sofa an elegant presence. The name, Frame, already tells you where to look: the structure becomes a detail to show off.

Carlo Colombo designed it in 2009, and the following year he also signed the K2 system for Arflex: two different takes on the large living-room sofa.

The designer

An architect who designs at every scale.

Carlo Colombo graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1993, but his first piece came earlier: the Kyoto bed for Cappellini, presented at the Salone del Mobile in 1992. Since then he has worked with many design companies and expanded into products, interiors, graphics, exhibitions and architecture.

In 2004 he was named Designer of the Year in Tokyo; between 2005 and 2011 he received Elle Decor's International Design Award four times, and in 2009 he was among the winners of the Good Design Award. For Arflex he designed seating systems such as the Frame and the K2.
