The Arflex Hug takes its name from a gesture: the embrace. Its armrests open like welcoming arms, and the armchair becomes an invitation to sit down. It was designed by the Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune and also comes as a love seat. Here at Mariani, official Arflex retailers in Milan and Arluno, we let you try it.

The Hug armchair was born in 2013 from a design by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Arflex; the love seat followed in 2014. Arflex describes it like this: the hug, the friendly and welcoming gesture, shows most clearly in the "open arms" of the armrests and is meant as a universal invitation.
Claesson Koivisto Rune was founded in 1995 as an architectural office and works across architecture and design in the Scandinavian tradition. Its architectural projects include the Sfera Building in Kyoto and the Swedish Ambassador's residence in Berlin.
Its products are made by international companies such as Arflex, Boffi and Cappellini. With the Hug the studio turned a simple gesture, the embrace, into an armchair, and a year later widened it to two people with the love seat.
