The Arflex Cradle is a sofa you recognise by its frame: slender triangular metal elements holding the seat like a cradle. It was designed by Neri&Hu, and the family includes a matching armchair. Here at Mariani, official Arflex retailers in Milan and Arluno, we let you see both up close.

The Cradle was born in 2018 from a design by the Neri&Hu studio for Arflex. According to Arflex, its character lies in the structure: a classic triangular construction repeated several times around the piece, so that it can be appreciated from every point of view.
That detail changes how you use it: the Cradle does not need to sit against a wall, and it can furnish the middle of a room with its back on show.
Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu are the founding partners of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office. Their approach draws on multiple disciplines, from everyday objects to architecture, to create experiences that enrich contemporary life while keeping a link with collective history.
Alongside their practice they are committed to teaching architecture: Lyndon Neri at Princeton, Rossana Hu as chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2004 they also founded Design Republic in Shanghai, a platform combining retail, exhibitions and education.
