The Arflex Solice is an armchair you recognise by one detail: the thin iron line that
starts at the feet and draws the whole frame. Here at Mariani, official Arflex retailers in Milan and
Arluno, we tell you how it is made and prepare your quote.

The design: it all starts at the feet
Solice is a 2024 design by Neri&Hu for Arflex. In Arflex's words,
the unique character of this chair begins at its feet: starting with a slight bend, the line
continues to define the legs, the armrests and the back support.
The result is a high-backed armchair with a light structure, where the frame stays visible like a
freehand drawing around the padded seat.

The designers
Two architects between design, history and teaching.
Behind Neri&Hu are Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, who both studied architecture at Berkeley and then at Harvard and Princeton respectively. Their approach draws on several disciplines to create experiences that enrich contemporary life while keeping a critical link to a collective history.
In 2004 they co-founded Design Republic in Shanghai. Both are deeply committed to teaching architecture, lecturing at universities such as Berkeley, Harvard and Yale. For Arflex they also designed the Cradle family; with the Solice they took a tiny detail, the foot, and made it the whole armchair.
