Arflex Supplì Armchair in Milan — Official Retailer

Soft curves and a compact volume: an armchair made for pausing, reading and resting.

Luca Nichetto for Arflex, 2020 · By Mariani Design

An armchair you notice for what it does not have: corners. The Supplì, designed by Luca Nichetto for Arflex in 2020, is all soft curves that wrap around whoever sits in it. Here at Mariani, official Arflex retailers in Milan and Arluno, we explain how it is made and how to choose it.

The design: curves that invite you to stop

Arflex describes it as an inviting and elegant armchair whose soft, sinuous curves "give off heat" and anchor the space. That is exactly how it works in a room: a compact volume, raised on slender metal legs, that instantly creates a corner for reading or for a conversation.

Because it is compact and visually light, the Supplì works well in pairs, either side of a coffee table, or on its own by a window. The photos above show it clearly: it is just as much at home in a concrete and stone interior as in a historic room.

The designer

A Venetian designer between Murano and Stockholm.

Luca Nichetto was born in Venice in 1976, studied at the Art Institute and graduated in industrial design from IUAV. He started out in 1999 with Murano glass pieces for Salviati and, in the same year, began working with Foscarini, also as a consultant on materials research.

In 2006 he opened his studio Nichetto&Partners in Porto Marghera, and in 2011 a second office in Stockholm. For Arflex he has designed Ladle, Algon and Capilano among others, and, in 2020, the Supplì.
